The composition task involved looking at the composition of photographs and I was tasked with taking 10 photographs of different compositions including: angles, lines, colour, reflections, I went out on the night of the course with my camera in hand and took around 250 pictures around the outside of the College, on the footbridge near the ferry bridge, inside the College in the corridor and also in the toilet for the reflection shot in the mirror!. I then loaded all the pictures onto the desktop of the College Apple Mac thinking they would be there the following week - however they weren't! First lesson learnt about loading onto the College computer desktop - they're not saved so backing up on memory stick/cd is what I need to do. I had some pictures though which included angled shots of the tops of the buildings against a fabulous red sky, the lines the cans of pop made in the drinks machine, the fat silver pipes and chain reflected on the wall around the engineering workshops. But alas they're gone.
So I knew I had to replace the lost pictures or as is becoming standard practice, take the camera out wherever I am going. I went to visit a friend for lunch in Rolleston on Dove on 4th October at 1.00pm. Lighting conditions were great - it was a bright, sunny day so good for reflections, shadows and good for my spirit ! There was plenty of colour around being September. I walked around Rolleston, towards the stream and over the bridge leading to a local hotel. There were reflection shots galore to be had most of which I had in one wide angled shot however it is too busy and there is too much to look at (see below). This is not one of the 4 composition shots I have chosen, I have included it to show the reflections, shadows, angles, colour all in one shot! The picture was taken on Auto and the settings show the aperture as 6.3, shutter speed 1/60, ISO 200 and the focal length 48mm.
